food and beverages

My food and travel photos have appeared in magazines, on websites, and in newspapers.

At present, I'm working on a photo essay about heritage farming in England. This will follow producers who breed heritage animals, slaughter them, bring the meat to London street markets, and cook and sell it. It's a journey that has defined the city for centuries.

art photography

One day, culinary genius Dave Arnold told me, "You are one of the few people who truly understands the beauty of decay."
It's true that much of my macro photography features what others might dismiss or simply fail to see.

the insomnia project

These images are part of a multimedia presentation about insomnia and noise-related domestic issues.

They show a 24-hour library and its overnight inhabitants, as reflected in windows. Often, the interior looks less real than the outside world. In this exhausted nightlife, borders are difficult to discern.

travel

The aim is to give the viewer a personal glimpse of a place, culture, or people.  This may mean framing New York's fattest squirrel or revealing an ancient foodstuff.

When on assigment, there's an extra layer of "Keep the client's tone."

Either way, travel photography should always be fresh and honest. Much of the time, the strongest need is for the photographer to get out of the image's way.
